My New Job Fits Me Just Fine

You never know where life is going to take you. I worked as an executive for a lot of years, and I found every bit of it to be boring. I made a lot of money working with a suit and tie on every day, but I had no passion for what I was doing as a living. But that all changed when I switched to racehorse training as a profession. I would not go back to working in and office for any money in the world at this point.

Not everyone is so lucky to switch careers when they’re 50 years old. Many people find that they simply cannot stop what they are doing to learn something entirely knew. And I was lucky that I was making six figures per year and had a lot of money saved for a rainy day. This meant, when the right opportunity came along, I was able to quite my then job, and go do something else with no training at all.

My brother in law races horses, and he trains them. He has been doing it for years. I always admired him for it. One day, I said as much. He told me that I should quit what I was doing and come work at his place. I thought he was joking at first, but he wasn’t. And then, I decided to take him up on it. Every day, I put on my jeans, boots and hat, and I go out to his farm and we work hard to train the horses. The horses love to run, and we love to help them learn how to be fast at it. Every day, I breathe in fresh air, hang out with great guy and all the horses. I love when the horses that I train go on to be winners, too.
